What we collect, and why
We try to collect as little as possible. Here is everything:
- Your email, only if you give it to us. If you sign up for updates, use the feedback button, or send the contact form, those forms record the email and message you type. We use it only to reply to you or to send the updates you asked for.
- Lesson reactions (anonymous). When you tap the like or dislike button on a lesson, we store an anonymous count. No name, email, or identity is attached.
- Anonymous usage analytics. We use an anonymous analytics service to see, in aggregate, which pages are visited and which links are clicked, so we can improve the lessons. This is anonymous and is never used to identify you personally.
- Your progress stays on your device. When you tap "mark this lesson complete," that is saved in your browser's local storage. It is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it.
What we do not collect
There are no user accounts and no passwords. We do not ask for or store payment information, and we never sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.
The services that help run the site
Because this is a small, free project, a few third-party services help host the site, run the contact and feedback forms, provide anonymous usage analytics, and store the anonymous lesson reactions. Each of these has its own privacy policy. If you choose to open a notebook to run code, that runs on a third-party platform under its own policy, and external links take you to other websites with their own policies. We never sell your data to any of them.
Cookies and local storage
We keep these to a minimum. The analytics service may set cookies to measure usage anonymously, and your lesson progress is kept in your browser's local storage. You can clear both at any time through your browser settings.
Your choices
You stay in control. You can use every lesson without sending us anything. If you would rather not share an email, simply do not submit the forms. If you have already sent us an email and want it removed, contact us (below) and we will delete it. You can clear your saved progress at any time by clearing your browser data.
Children
BioNexus Hub is general educational content and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the "last updated" date at the top.
Contact
