Our Story
BioNexus Hub began from a simple observation: many people are genuinely curious about bioinformatics but don't know where to start. The field sits at the fascinating intersection of biology, computer science, and data analysis, yet it can feel intimidating and inaccessible to newcomers.
This platform was born from a genuine gap in accessible bioinformatics education. Whether you're transitioning from pharmacy, biology, medicine, or any other field, or you're completely new to the world of computational biology, BioNexus Hub is designed to meet you where you are and guide you forward.
All it needs is curiosity, dedication, and the right guidance - and that's exactly what we're here to provide.
Meet Your Instructor
Hi everyone, I'm Mennah Bassiouny! π
I'm a Master's student in Bioinformatics at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering - Indiana University. My background is in pharmaceutical sciences, and I transitioned to bioinformatics because I was excited to explore how computational tools can help answer important biological and medical questions. πβ‘οΈπ»
I started BioNexus Hub because I saw a genuine gap - many people are curious about bioinformatics but don't know where to start. Having made the transition myself from pharmaceutical sciences, I understand the challenges and questions that arise when you're new to the field.
This platform is built on real community interest and will evolve based on what you actually need to learn. My goal is to make bioinformatics learning simple, practical, and accessible for everyone, regardless of their starting point.
π¬ Research Interests:
𧬠Gene regulation and regulatory mechanisms
π§ͺ RNA biology and RNAβprotein interactions
π Transcriptomics and epitranscriptomics
π Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis
π Integrative and multi-omics approaches to study biological systems
